Bringing together participants from the EU and EaP countries, as well as third countries, the project team aimed to raise awareness of EU-STRAT\u2019s research agenda, which is highly relevant to the region\u2019s current political situation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The conference was opened with keynote speeches and welcoming addresses by:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Asta Skaisgiryt\u0117<\/strong>, Political Director of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry<\/li>\n<li><strong>Professor Leszek Balcerowicz<\/strong>, Head of the International Comparative Studies Department at the Warsaw School of Economics and former advisor to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vassilis Maragos<\/strong>, Head of Unit at the European Commission\u2019s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Andrius Kubilius,<\/strong>\u00a0former Prime Minister of Lithuania and current Member of the Lithuanian Parliament<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The welcoming addresses and keynote speeches began the<strong> two-day conference,<\/strong> which included <strong>six panel discussions<\/strong> on different topics of EU-STRAT research as well as a <strong>round table<\/strong> on the future of the EaP.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">If you would like to know more about the conference and read about the keypoints of all the discussions which took place during the event please take a look at:<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/eu-strat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/EU-STRAT-Report-No.-3.pdf\">the report summarizing the EU-STRAT\u2019s midterm conference and its findings.\u00a0<\/a><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EU-STRAT\u2019s midterm conference entitled &#8220;The EU and Eastern Partnership Countries: An Inside-Out Analysis and Strategic Assessment\u201d took place in Vilnius from October 5 to October 6, 2017.
